Oldest operation on the 20-Mile River near Portage, AK, near Girdwood. Our locally owned operations began in 1998. Early to late season we are eager to show you our private paradise. We offer a fantastic trip through a roadless wilderness. Our jet boat disembarks at the Turnagain Arm near Portage, about 9 miles south of Girdwood. Boats are fast and comfortable, and ride adjusted to your adrenaline level. Jet boats are specialized shallow draft and can go way backcountry. Shooting rapids, log jumps can be part of the itinerary.! During upstream legs of the trip your driver-guide will provide expert commentary on the local flora, fauna, and funky heritage of this remote area. The river has both deep channels with green banks and evidence of beaver, bear, moose, and eagles as well as wider gravel sections with expansive vistas where you will have the opportunity to disembark from the jet boat and have a look around on shore for animal tracks, go fishing or have a picnic, if you have signed up for it! Shore side activities, like a company picnic, are possible. On the downstream leg the captain picks up the pace and the excitement level for a thrilling ride back to the river mouth!
To play with us, there are transportation options from Girdwood or Anchorage. Combine JETBOATING with other local activities or even schedule into late evening to maximize your fun and take advantage of the long daylight hours experienced at this latitude. Make your day with a scenic thrill ride or fish with local veteran outfitter. Fishing for salmon is possible, but remember to pick your battles if you have less patient members in your group. Our scenic trip is by far out most popular, and works will together with nearby family or student-focused attractions to round out a full day of your Alaskan adventure.
